Setback

Riley did not tolerate the Neosure formula he was given on Wednesday. It has caused him to "dump" and because of this...today an IV was started as well as TPN and lipids to keep him from being dehydrated. he is NPO which means no eating by mouth, and his tube feeds are back to continual. Obviously, this is not good news.

He is likely to stay NPO through the weekend at least.

My prayers are with you and Jay too that you may find the strength to get through this setback. Baby Riley, don't give up, keep up the good fight. So sorry to hear the news of Riley's setback. Hoping and praying that this is just a temporary thing, and soon he will be back on track with his regular feedings. Stay positive, and keep the faith. He has fought bigger battles than this, and I'm sure he will conquer this hurdle also. Remember, you're dealing with "The Fighting Riley" He'll beat this, and win! Stay strong "cute stuff"
Love and Hugs, Dale

Up, down, up, down, up, down...the life of NICU parents. We are sorry to hear Riley had a bad day. I hate even posting good news any more for fear that I will jinx it as soon as I type it. Hang in there and know Riley will have better days soon.

I am so sorry for the setback. My last 2 babies were preemies and ugg getting them to eat was a major headache. My little ones couldn't handle the neosure. I would really ask them why they won't consider putting him on a hypoallergic formula that has its proteins broken down so its easier for him to digest. My last one sounds alot like Riley but Riley has been thru so much.. Keep pushing those Doctors to try different things
