I'm back

So...I haven't disappeared. And yes, I'm still planning to blog. I've just been in a funk. Between all that happened with Riley at Duke, preparing for his first birthday party, working on a project that you will see below and being haunted by "anniversaries" of events from a year ago...I just really haven't been in the mood to blog.

Plus...my state of mind wasn't encouraging to me to sort through a years worth of pictures to do what is posted below for a while. And I wanted to put pictures from Riley's birthday in that project, so...I guess I just haven't posted anything.

What you will find below is a video of Riley's entire first year. Not every picture I have taken (I have taken over 10, 000 since he has been born), but a lot. A lot of them you will remember from past blog posts as I tend to post my favorites on here. Some have never been posted and there are a few videos thrown in also. It's long. I made it for family mainly, but it's easy enough to post and share here IF you have a little bit of time to spend watching it. It has music and sound, so beware of that if your looking from work ;o).

As for how Riley is doing...he's doing well, although he IS running a fever at the moment for some unknown reason. The pediatrician found a VERY slightly red throat (strep test was negative) but he has NO other symptoms other than a VERY slightly elevated white count. Hoping that this is just a normal childhood virus and not something brewing in his belly. But of course , as is the story of his life...all we can do is watch and wait. He is still having issues digesting certain things, but has successfully made the transition from the highly specialized and elemental formula he was on to plain old whole milk. He is a crawling pro now and is a daring cruiser. If he can wrap his fingers around it in the slightest little way, he will use it to cruise along. He gives me a heart attack doing this no less than once a day. He is doing well enough that I returned to work full time this week. And who can believe that he's a year old?? We had a great time celebrating his birthday, both privately on the actual day itself and at his party later on. It was hectic, but his whole life has been hectic, so it suited the occasion I think!!

Enjoy the video!

Lindsey, What a precious video of Riley's first year. I praise God for the miracle of Riley. He is a sweet and precious little boy. Every tear shed watching that video just makes me realize more and more every day that prayer is so very powerful. Thank you God. My love to you all. Pauline

I'm at work and got to 1:28 before I could feel the tears welling up. Looks like I'll have to finish the video at home!

I've also been in a funk. It's so strange that while I'm thrilled Carter has met the one year mark, it's also causing me to look back at each and every day to see where we were on that day last year. It's painful and I haven't felt much like blogging either.

WOW. After checking your blog everyday, it was well worth the wait. I feel like I know you and your family. What a great video. God is great and we can see that through Riley. Thank you so much for taking the time to keep us all updated. Amy Whitfield, GE

Lindsey, the journey I see in the blog is just so remarkable, to see the strength God blessed Riley and you and Jay with and a Travis with this past year just amazes me. It is a blessing to see how you and Jay have support each other in the journey, keeping one another going and parenting two little boys, this in itself is a miracle. you have shared your family with us. Even though we look forward to the updates we know you also need time to do all you need to do. May God continue to bless all of you in the upcoming year.Doris

Amazing! God is so good! My nephew also had NEC amongst other health issues & is fighting hard like Riley. I will keep your family in my prayers. One day these two little ones will be free of tubes & made whole & it will be glorious!

Much love, Jenni Carlisle
