Time to talk Parties!

Yesterday, we all went for a little drive to celebrate a special little boy's birthday.

Whose?? Why our good friend Carter's of course!

It was such an honor to celebrate his 1st birthday with him. We enjoyed visiting with him and his parents and we saw several friends from Duke also.

Kellie made a special cupcake for Carter AND Riley, plain icing/no sprinkles. Riley definetly enjoyed his!

He got lots of practice for his own birthday party coming up soon!

Speaking of Riley's birthday, several people have asked what they could do for him for his birthday. You all have been so kind and generous to our family during Riley's whole ordeal. If you would like to do something for Riley's birthday, and just don't know what to do, we hope you would consider one of the options below. It would really mean a lot to us.

1) If you are coming to the party, bring an item from the "wish list" from the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. We will hand deliver them the next time we go to Duke. The list can be found here .

2) Make a donation in honor of Riley to the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. You can do so here.

3) Make a donation to Duke Children's Hospital in honor of Riley. You can even specify where the funds go if you like, and we think the Intensive Care Nursery would be a fabulous place to specify! You can donate to Duke Children's here.

4) Make a donation to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center's Medical Foundation...specifically to their Pediatric Critical Care Transport in honor of Riley. We had to rely completely on Duke's LifeFlight service to transport Riley back and forth because our local hospital does not have a designated pediatric transport. You can read about this cause here and donate to this cause here, and please select Pediatric Critical Care Transport in the field "I would like my donation to benefit...".

Other than parties and preparing for parties, it's been life with 2 little boys as usual around here.

He was just about asleep under there!

It is hard to believe that Riley and Carter are celebrating their first Birthday's! It has been a long year, but they are both so strong, and so darn cute!!! Riley didn't look like he needed any coaxing, or help to go to town on that cupcake. So cute. Maybe he can put back some of the weight he lost, between Carter's party and his own birthday party. Glad you guys got to spend the day with Carter and his parents, they are special folks also. Enjoyed all the pictures, especially Travis and Riley playing together.

Many Hugs,
Dale
