Riley is back home

Riley was discharged from the hospital this evening and we are all at home now. He was treated with IV fluids for dehydration from the dumping, and then a different feeding regimen started. So far, he seems to be tolerating the new regimen fairly well. We now have to mix Pregestimil with my milk for him. If you've never smelled this stuff...it's AWFUL. He doesn't seem to care for the flavor all the much either. We are hoping he will eventually get used to it.

So it was a long weekend. One spent entirely at the hospital, as Riley was on the regular Pediatric floor with this admission. Once you are discharged from a NICU, for those that don't know, you aren't readmitted. So he was a big boy and graduated to Peds. This is a picture of what ALL of Friday evening into early Saturday morning was like:

They ended up giving him some tylenol to help him sleep, as not being able to eat anything, and only getting clear fluids via IV had him in an angry frenzy.

So that is the short version of all that occurs. Tomorrow, I have to try and get him scheduled for an appointment with a pediatric GI specialist at Duke.

Baby Riley, I'm so happy you are back home and feeling better. Hope the feeds will be a go from now on. I will see you very, very soon. Hug, Pauline

Lindsey, So glad you are all back home again. Poor little Riley certainly wasn't happy with just clear liquids, and I know it wasn't easy for you to see him so upset. Hope the new regimen works out, and Riley can adjust to the taste. Thank goodness it was a short stay for all of you. Hoping you can get some much needed rest.
Hugs to all, and a kiss for Riley!
Dale
