He's out of surgery

He made it through surgery ok. What they found however wasn't the best news. It wasn't the worst, but certainly not the best. It seems he has about an 8 inch segment of bowel that has intermittent bad areas. They pulled the end of the good to the surface into a stoma, which is where a little ostomy bag will go for a few months while his bowel heals. Then the other segment comes to the surface so they can keep track of it basically. They put a drain in to help with fluid build up.

The problem is the surgeon cannot predict how much of that damaged area will live and how much of it will die. It's another wait and see thing. But if it all dies, he says Riley will not be able to get the nutrition he needs and survive. His poor little bowels are so sick. And they may not know the outcome until they go back in to surgery in a few months to repair the stomas.
Once again,we have been absolutely floored and devasted by the latest news. We were so hoping for a small problem that they would repair today and that would be the end of it.

I am so sad that you did not get the news we were all hoping for. We will continue to pray for Riley's full recovery.

Dear Lindsey and Jay, I am so sorry about the outcome of baby Riley's surgery. Keep a positive outlook on baby Riley's little life. We will pray that God will touch and heal the damaged area and in time baby Riley will be well and home with you, Jay and Travis and his extended family. Don't give up the good fight baby Riley. We love you, Pauline

I wish the results of his surgery could have been what we were all hoping and praying for. Now it's back to hoping Riley can continue to take baby steps to improving and getting well. He has shown everyone what a fighter he is, and I pray he will continue to stay tough. May God keep watch over your precious son, and bless him with the gift of healing. Please know everyone is trusting in faith!
Love to you all, Dale

Please read Psalm 23 and remember God is the Almighty Comforter and Healer. I am still praying for little Riley and will not lose the hope or faith that he will be okay. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
