Snow day and dr appointment

Riley had his very first pediatrician appointment ever yesterday. It was a cold and snowy/messy day. In other words, not a great day to get out with a baby! But we did, and overall, the pediatrician was pleased with him and his progress. She seemed a little in awe of him and his issues and how good he looks now. He DID gain a little bit of weight. He was 10lbs 2.6oz when he was discharged and he weighed 10lbs 4oz yesterday. not a fantastic gain, but it wasn't a loss so that is good. Ideally, they would like to see him gain between .5 to 1 oz a DAY! Shew...we have a long way to go for that. His weight isn't even on the growth curve for his age....peanut. His length (22.75 inches) is just under the 10th percentile for his age.

He is doing really well here at home. He is eating the amount he should for they day, but as always, does it on his own terms. He eats about every 2 hours (occasionally will go 3 hours) during the day, but then only wakes up once at night between midnight-ish and around 8am. So that's not too bad. But I joke and tell him that all he does is eat! And when he's ready to eat....LOOK OUT. You don't get any warning that he's about to let loose with some ear-drum shattering cries!

Today, since Travis was out of school due to the snow from yesterday, I took the boys to get their pictures made. They turned out pretty good, even though Riley was being very stingy with his smiles. And Travis unintentionally insulted the photographer as he said "Riley only laughs at people who are funny". He was ATTEMPTING to be helpful, but of course the photographer and I were working our butts off to try and get Riley to smile and he was being all sorts of silly, so that was probably a bit of a hit to his ego or something. Oh well...he's six, what can I say?

Getting ready to go see the snow

He didn't care for it too much!

I'm so happy the pediatrician was pleased with Riley's general health and his progress. Baby Riley...keep drinking up that milk! Love all the pictures and especially the one of Travis and Riley out in the snow...precious. And, what could be more cutie than sweet baby Riley dressed in his snow suit/blanket. Stay warm and cozy, Hugs, Pauline

I am so glad to hear that things went well at the doctor's office and that Riley is still doing so well at home.

Lindsey, I love that snow outfit on Riley. How cute! Looks like Travis was having fun in the snow, even if Riley wasn't. Glad he is doing well and that the doctor was happy about his progress. Enjoy those two precious boys, Love, Debbie and Gary

It is good to hear that Riley's doctor was so pleased with his progress since coming home. It is always a sigh of relief, when you hear positive comments. Riley looked so cute in his snow suit, even if he wasn't so happy with the whole ordeal. Must have been the surroundings of the photo place, as you always get great smiles, when you take Riley's picture. He's cute and sweet smiling or not.
Hugs and blessings, Dale
