so the cat scan didn't show any issues! SHEW!
it looked at his stomach and intestines and both looked fine. Poor baby did projectile vomit from the dye but other than that, did well for the scan.
his urine culture from earlier today is showing sign of infection. so there is one possible cause. they gave him his dose of miropenum, and going to see what blood work shows in the morning. they also did a blood culture from his broviac and a peripheral culture. PRAYING they don't grow anything as that will mean sepsis AGAIN. So for now...its back to wait and watch. wait for critters to grow from the cultures (which again, the urine one is showing signs of growing already), or watch for improvement. he's been real uncomfortable today, not playful at all and cries. jay said he really couldn't even hold him today, he was just too uncomfortable.
so relieving news. now, we just got to get the infection under control which will reduce the inflammation, which will allow his intestines to make good output via his stoma again. It was doing so over the weekend, but has since slowed and his replogle is getting more stuff out. we need that to reverse...the replogle to get very little and stoma to get more output. frustrating because that was just what the case was on saturday, and he could have eaten on Sunday. so back to square 1.
one of the fellows we really like told Jay to relay to me that since it seems he has yet another bladder infection, that can cause inflammation so that in conjunction with surgery trauma and inflammation can cause all these issues. now that they have seen no issues inside, its a matter of waiting on the antibiotics and he's now on SEVERAL "big guns" type antibiotics and should begin to improve. I told Jay to relay the message BACK to the doctor that he better know what he's talking about, that's my baby up there :o) and to thank him for going ahead and doing the cat scan.
I'm relieved, but still in a foul mood. He just can't catch a break and that makes me want to literally HURT someone or SOMETHING out of frustration!!
Tomorrow, he's NINE weeks old. I can hardly believe it.

Praise God that baby Riley's stomach and intestines look good. Thank you God. Baby Riley...keep fighting sweet little one...I can't wait until the day I can cuddle you again. Love you bunches, Pauline
Well Lindsey, at least you received some good news from the scan. Now, lets pray that the antibiotics kick in,so that Riley can get some relief from pain. Also, hoping that his blood cultures don't show sepsis, and that in a few days, he will be starting to improve enough,to have good output from his stoma again. I also hope his bladder infection starts to improve. That, in itself is miserable. Just waiting for those "baby steps" to start appearing again. Thanks for the update, and try to rest tonight, and stay positive. May God bless,
and watch over Riley, and help him heal.
Love and hugs, Dale

Aw Lindsey, after this is over you could write a book! Hope something out of nowhere makes you smile today for at least a moment. Praying for you all to continue to have the strength to get through this seemingly endless battle. Can't wait to see pics of the boys together from home!
Great news!

Lindsey, I am so glad that you got good news from Riley's scan on his stomach and intestines. I am praying that the antibiotics Riley is getting now will help ease his pain and clear up whatever might be going on inside his little body. Stay strong, Love, Debbie
