So....Travis was admitted today. He's been a trooper about it though and other than being disturbed when sleeping (ok and the finger prick for the glucose test), he's really handled it well.  When he saw the little pulse ox sensor, he immediatly said "hey, this is just like Riley has". He's slept most of the day, but gotten sick some as well. IV fluids and protonix have been going in all day. The protonix is to help heal his esophagus and stomach, as he was vomiting up blood, so they think the lining is raw.

Riley may be transferred back to NHRMC tomorrow. I had a brief moment of excitement this afternoon about this development, but it was quickly crushed when NHRMC NICU charge nurse said they couldn't take him tonight and discharges will have to occur tomorrow before they can take him. They have some deliveries tonight, so really, I don't know if it will happen or not.  And if they can take him, who knows if transportation can be arranged. Since Travis will be here until tomorrow and maybe into Christmas day....Riley coming "home" would make things sooooo much better.

Travis, who is forever my compassionate boy, when he got sick up in durham with Jay, said he wanted to go home, because if he was sick, jay would have to stay with him, and then riley would be alone. and then today, when we were walking into the hospital, he says to me "mommy, you know what makes this ok" and I said "what?", he said "because your with me".  OMG did I just drop down and hug him and cry right there!!! He asked us once, a few weeks ago, that if he were in the hospital like riley was, would we stay with him. I told him that I wouldn't leave his side!! so today, when the pediatrician said she wanted to admit him, while she went to get the paperwork, he asked me if I would stay with him or if I would go home at night. I told him, that as long as he was in there, I would not leave him. That boy sure knows how to tug at my heart!!  He had several visitors today, and that made him feel SO special!!! He counted them all up just a bit ago, and was just all smiles. Then he said he was tired, so he rolled over and is now asleep.

OH! One of those visitors just happened to be SANTA CLAUS!! who brought him an early present of Hot wheels. Now if you know Travis, you know that was AWESOME!  and he told santa he wanted a Nintendo DS for christmas with the Lego star wars game. I'm sure santa knew about the Nintendo dS already, since that was on the list Travis made and sent, but the game I'm not so sure about. but now he knows ;o)

so that is about it for today. two boys, two different hospitals, 150 miles apart, two days from christmas. what a life.

What a life about captures it all. I'm praying that Travis begins to feel better real soon and that Riley will get to come to NHRMC by Christmas. Hugs to you all, Pauline

Oh man, watching Jay pack Riley's stuff tonight was almost unbearable. We are definitely praying that you guys can get Riley closer to home by Christmas, but Carter is going to be so sad without his best little ICN friend...not to mention how sad we're going to be without you guys!! Please promise that we will have many reunions in the coming years!

God owes it to you to bring your family together, so if nothing else, I hope you all are in the same place tomorrow. So wishing it was home in front of your tree!
Take care and God Bless...

Lindsey, Hoping Travis has improved today, and is able to eat something. Also hoping they will be able to transfer Riley before Christmas, so you can all be together as a family. I'm sure that would be the best gift you could hope for, at this point. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and I hope Santa is EXTRA nice to both Travis and baby Riley. Take care, and God Bless you all!!!
Love and Hugs, Dale
