No lumbar puncture

So i'm going by what Jay texted me. I can already tell I am not going to be happy finding out info on Riley via text. But after working so hard all day to get platelets above 100 so they could do the LP to check for meningitis, they decided at the time of DOING the LP that since the blood cultures since being at DUke this weekend haven't grown anything, the LP isn't necessary at this point. If they do grow something OR if the bacteria that he was infected with turns out to be a big and bad one, they will do the LP then. If not, he won't have it. So it is good news. But frustrating. seems they would have known this a little earlier in the day and could have stressed us less. but such is life up there.

He lost almost a whole pound today thankfully. It was obvious he was much more comfortable.

I did come home today. I'm not ready to talk about that.

Once again, thamk you for all the prayers and positive thoughts and advice. I know I dont say thank you enough, and I dont always respond to every email, but they are read and very much apreciated and help lift the spirits.

Lindsey, so glad to hear the good news that Riley's blood culture hasn't grown anything since being at Duke; therefore no need for lumbar puncture. I will be praying you and Travis have a good week at home and that Jay and baby Riley have better days at Duke. You all are in my thoughts and prayers daily. Get some rest and take care of yourself. Love, Pauline

Happy to hear Riley did not have to endure the LP. That is a good sign, that the infection he has is under control with the antibiotics he is being given. I know you are going through pure hell, being away from Riley. Hold on to Travis, and gain your strength from his love. Jay will make sure Riley is well taken care of. Prayers for all of you, that this week will bring nothing but good news. God Bless and take care of yourself, and enjoy your time with Travis.
Love and Hugs,
Dale
