The doctor's have made their rounds. They believe it is time to go in and take a peek around Riley's belly to see what is going on. He will likely have an ostomy when they are done, and for 2-3 months while his intestines heal and then will have that repaired.
They are anticipating taking him to surgery around noon-1:00ish right now. Of course any emergencies that occur between now and then could change that timeframe.
I'll update when he has been taken back, until then, I'm spending my time with him.

We are with you every step of the way. jb
Praying for Riley...and asking God to do something great.
Jeremiah 33:3, ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Although their(Duke) athletic dept is a joke, their Dr's are the best out there!
Will be praying!
My heart breaks for you having to go through this and I don't even know you. But, I know what its like to send a 6 day old in for surgery....
Praying for Riley today, and of course for you too.
I know this is more than you ever thought you'd have to deal with with a full term newborn baby. Just hang in there.
You may want to google some on-line forums - like yahoo groups. You should be able to find some support groups for parents with kids with ostomy bags and who have had NEC. I'm a member of a preemie forum and it has been really helpful and a great place to go with questions and for reassurance.
I'll be thinking about Riley all day. I check the site every few hours for updates. You are constantly in my thoughts.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow...praying for baby Riley. God will send his blessings to baby Riley during surgery and heal him. God will also be with you and Jay and provide you both with strength and inner peace to endure all the pain that baby Riley is going through as well as yourselves. Love and Blessings, Pauline
Lindsay and Jay,
With these new developments you may want to check with a social worker about Riley qualifying for SSI and Medicaid. He may now qualify as disabled. Even if you have great insurance, Medicaid can be great to pick up the extra deductibles and co-pays. He will likely need medical equipment now and it should help with that as well. I don't know the requirements, but it is worth looking in to.
I know you have a lot to think about today, but I thought I would just put the idea out there to work on when things are more stable.

Praying for all of you to find strength and healing today. Praying that God will guide the surgeon's hands as he operates on Riley.
My son went home with an ostomy. It can be a hassle sometimes, but we got so used to it that we didn't notice anymore. Michelle Rice is the osotomy nurse and she is awesome. She will make sure that you know what you are doing and that you are comfortable with it before sending you home.
Reading your blog brings back sooo many memories--the sounds, the heartbreak, the victories, the discussions, rounds, vent tubes, pulling out vent tubes, preventing pulling out tubes, PICC lines, tpn. It was such a part of our lives for 6+ months. Even though it can be frustrating and heartbreaking, you have to stay strong for Riley. Remember that even though they don't always agree on the course of action, Riley is in the hands of the experts.

Hi Lindsay,
I came back to work on Thursday to hear about the birth of your son and that you are at Duke with him. I have to let you know that I have been praying for your "Riley" as well as for you and your family.
May God's grace be with you and give you the strength and peace that only comes from Him.
I am anxious to hear from you after the surgery.

Jay and Lindsey: I'm praying for you and your family during this most stressful time. Riley surely seems like a tough little fighter and I'm sure today will be no different! Stay strong and God Bless!

I continue to pray for Riley, and both of you also. I hope this surgery solves the problem, and gives your precious baby the relief from his painful tummy, that he deserves, and that he will be on a positive road to recovery. I will not rest until I hear he is back in his room with his Mommy and Daddy. Hopefully, your spirits will be raised a little, when you get to see Travis. God be with you all during this trying time.
Love to all, Dale
Lots of prayers and hugs and kisses through the air for Riley and all of you...You are constantly in our thoughts..
Love, Aunt Cheryle, Christina & Kayla
