The sounds of the NICU

So the NICU is suppose to be fairly quiet and low stimulation for all the sick babies. Well Duke's NICU is kind of loud and about 5 machine alarms are going off at anytime. But today took the cake.

Check it out:
Ok that is taking forever to upload so it'll have to be the only one of the 3 I have.

I know I said earlier that there was really no news. because we didn't think there was. But we found out that Rileys last 3 xrays have shown improvement. Not sure how we missed out on that earlier today. From when he arrived here until yesterday, his bowel xrays have been rated an 8 out of 10 (10 is surgery). That just shows how quickly this nasty thing took over his poor little body. The late last night one and early this morning one were 6! And then the early afternoon was a 5!!!!

His stomach is still VERY distended. It's actually shiny it's so stretched. But hopefully that will begin to improve soon. I got to change his diaper this morning and lift him up out of the bed to be weighed.

The little baby next to Riley is not doing very well. They had to do some sort of surgery on his right in the room today and we had to leave while that was occuring. We browsed the gift shops and went up to the top floor to look out over the Duke campus. When we arrived on the top floor and walked around the corner to go to the windows, this view greeted us:

That is Riley's helicopter. He landed on the roof of Duke and rolled in the door right next to where we were standing. It was the kind of thing that just haunts you. I didn't like seeing it, eventhough I am grateful for it.

Thanks for all the pictures...very haunting one of helicopter, but again it reminds us of our Almighty God and all that he has done through doctors, nurses, etc., for baby Riley these last few days. Baby Riley keep up the fight...you are getting better. You are so beautiful, can't wait to cuddle you and sing you a song. Lindsey and Jay...keep up the good spirits and take care of yourselves, we all love you, Pauline
