oops

Did I really not update yesterday at all? Oops!
Well I'm holding him right now so prepare for typos.
Yesterday was another all around positive day. He didn't have to have any platelets so that was great. His platelets at midnight yesterday were 70. At 4pm they were 67. Midnight this morning they were 57 and 8am were 55. So they are still dropping which is response to infection, but they are dropping at a much more gradual rate, so that is better. Anything below 50,they will transfuse so it won't surprise me if he has to have one later, but that's not going to bring me down if still just a gradual drop.
In other news, the surgeon who performed Rileys surgery came by yesterday and was actually positive as to his current status. You'd have to know this guy to fully appreciate that. There is some confusion on my part as to whether Riley is going to be allowed home now prior to having his stomas reversed (not sure of the fancy word for that). It will depend on how well he tolerates his feeds and whether he will need continued IV nutrition or not until then And if he does, there is differing opinions on if he can go home on that and have home health nurse monitor. There are just no straight answers in the nicu I tell ya. BUT if he does havw to stay in just for iv nutrition,and isn't a surgical threat, you best believe I am going to be hounding them about sending him "home" to New Hanover! Nurse just told me to make sure I advocate for those wants when time gets near and to go ahead and do research on what type of home care is available so I can argue for that if necessary. Me?argue? Who would ever think such a thing.
The surgeon did mention maybe losing that hateful replogle tube soon. I will certainly do a dance of joy when that happens. That thing is so obnoxious. All the advances in modern medicine and they can't get a replogle to not clog?
Another platelet check at 4pm...we'll see what that brings. Jay and Travis are on their way up here now. I asked Travis last night if he was excited to see Mommy. His response? "I can't WAIT to see Riley". Stinker.
