No change since the last update. Well, "I" did change his diaper...haven't done that in over a week since his belly was so tender. I didn't want him looking up seeing ME cause that pain. Tonight, he just grunted at me. And I emptied his ostomy bag. No big excitement there. Tomorrow....a sponge bath! He needs it. I wiped goo from his neck creases with a wipe today....some of which I am pretty sure was leftover from birth. Nasty I know, but I really haven't been able to do that sort of thing so far. His little skin will be red from the scrubbing I may give him tomorrow!
Ok....first picture. Ahem...blurry. and I love it. argh.
Today was homecoming at Duke. They played Miami (and lost)....but lots of people milling around campus today. We went back to the chapel as there was a wedding there last weekend and couldn't go in. Jay and I have gone in, but Mom, Dad and Travis had not...it's so pretty. but I think Travis was more impressed with the big Magnolia trees.
Another blurry one...he was really enjoying his thumb, tape from the PICC line and all
Mr. Don't Bother Me
He's beginning to get really vocal about what he does and does not like. He does NOT like to lie flat on his back. I am not sure if that is uncomfortable for him or if he just doesn't care for it. I kind of am leaning towards he just doesn't like it, as he is much more comfortable over all now than he was. Either way, lay him down, flat on his back....he's gonna cry. And he is a loud crier. His nurse yesterday wanted to give him a dose of morphine for that crying and I said "ummm NO. How about change his position first" (note: he was only in the bed with me there because he was due for an assessment and I was about to step out). Well, she gives me a look like "yeah right" but guess what? Put him more to his side and he quieted right down. Ha! Take that. Don't tell me I don't know my own kid.
He also has begun to fuss a little when he hears me in the room talking. Like when I walk in first thing in the day, I usually talk with his nurse for a few minutes to find out the latest news, etc and then I get him out of bed, unless it's time for an assessment, then I get him out afterwards. He hears me and starts fussing and keeps up till I pick him up. Yep. I just love that :o)
That is all for today, which made 2 weeks exactly that Riley has been here. Two weeks since our lives were completely turned upside down and the worst thing we could ever imagine ALMOST came true. I am so thankful that things are looking so much more hopeful this Saturday.

Great pictures!
The pictures are all awesome. The one with Jay, Travis, and Riley, is terrific!! Seeing Travis's hand touching his baby brother ever so gently, and Riley looking up at him, is priceless.( yes, it brought tears)Such a sweet moment. So thrilled Riley is continuing to do so well, and he is letting them know what he likes, and dislikes! Glad you are having a good weekend with the family.
