How I spent my afternoon

I couldn't think of a better way to do it. Ok maybe sitting at home holding him while watching Travis play, but for now,it'll do.
Got some worrisome news this afternoon yet again and gonna ask for everyones prayers yet again....they have proven to work miracles before so hopefully will yet again. The surgeon doesn't like the way the fluid and stuff that comes out of his drain looks. Said they are going to monitor it closely the next 24 to 48 hours and if no improvement go back to surgery. Praying that all the antibiotics he is on can gain some ground on this horrible nasty infection. It's easy to forget how very sick he is when looking at him because he doesn't LOOK sick.
Had an aggravating experience with the nurse he had this morning and I finally chose to go do laundry so she would be gone when I returned. She nearly found out a time or two just who Riley gets that temper from.
Missed a few phone calls today but I promisw I wasn't ignoring them! As you can see from the picture, I had my hands full ;o)
But I'm doing alright. As alright as I can be, but yes I eat. Maybe not a lot or 3 square meals a day, but I eat. Even more so, I drink lots of water (and occasionally ,Mountain Dew). Becoming more friendly with some of the "regulars" I see around the ICN so someone to chat with. I read books to Riley and I read and do puzzles and check my emails frequently and read blog comments. So I'm doing ok I think. I try and tell myself if that little baby can be as strong as he is then I need to do better. Not that it doesn't get the best of me at times, but that is my encouragement.
A question I've gotten a lot the past few days is will Riley be able to go home with the stomas/ostomy. YES. He will hopefully turn the corner on his tummy troubles and be able to begin feeds soon and once those are established and tolerated and his stoma is functioning, he will be able to go home. Then, in a few months, he will come back for a few days and have his stomas reversed (have his intestines reconnected and put back into belly) and then be "normal". HE should do great with the ostomy. It will just mean more work for us but that is OK. Bring it on I say. So please let his infection improve and feeds begin.

Hi Lindsey, What a blessed way to spend the afternoon...holding sweet baby Riley...he is so beautiful. I will continue to pray for the infection to improve and the feeds to begin. Love, Pauline

I see your day improved! An answer to my prayers. I'm glad you got to spend some cuddle time with your little guy.
