One year ago today, our dear friends Scott and Michelle allowed me to participate in the birth of their daughter Madelyn. They asked me to take pictures. I was soooo honored that they 1) think i take pretty pictures :o) and 2) that they would allow me to share in such an intimate situation. I will never EVER forget as long as live what it was like to witness the birth of a child. I remember clearly i was so overcome with emotion that I almost forgot to snap the pictures!! I will FOREVER be greatful to them for allowing me to share and participate in that special day in their lives.
As many of you know, sweet Madelyn passed away on May 8, 2007 at not quite 5 months old. If you are not familiar with her story, you may read about it here. Not only did this break the hearts of Scott and Michelle, but it broke ours as well. Our close friends children, we hold dear to us, as if they were our own. Being only children, we don't have the joy of neices and nephews and so we share our love with our friends children and consider them family. Madelyn's passing truly was losing a close loved one. I cannot think of her without remembering the sight of seeing her take her first breath and all the plans of how spoiled this little girl was going to be from Aunt Lindsey.
Little Madelyn is no longer here amongst us to share in the joy of her 1st Birthday today....but a joy today is just the same. It is the day of her birth, and a day of remembrance in honor of her. So with that in mind...I am chosing to focus on the joy of her life today and celebrating that. In honor of her, we have purchased gifts for a little girl who is less fortunate than us since we will not be lavishing birthday gifts upon Madelyn. That was the best way I could think of to honor her memory today.
Michelle made a slideshow in honor of Madelyn's birthday that you may view here if you so choose: http://www.onetruemedia.com/otm_site/view_shared?p=4713048bf0a9b813cd65c7&skin_id=601&utm_source=otm&utm_medium=email
I got choked up seeing pictures I had taken but particularly when I saw the picture of Travis holding her. :(
If you would like to leave Scott and Michelle and their son Jason a word or two of encouragement , I'm sure they would appreciate it. You may do so here .
